Ways to Invest in
Spain
Spain Investment Visa
Australia no longer offers a direct investment or “Golden Visa” program for new applicants. The former Business Innovation and Investment Program (BIIP), including the Investor and Significant Investor visas, closed to new applications on 31 July 2024.
Current Investment Pathways
Start a Business: Invest in and operate a new business in Australia. There is no government-mandated minimum investment, but most businesses require AUD 100,000 or more.
Buy an Existing Business: Purchase an Australian business such as a café, retail store, restaurant, or manufacturing company. Investment typically ranges from AUD 200,000 to several million dollars.
Expand an Indian Company: Open an Australian branch or subsidiary of an existing Indian business and grow operations in Australia.
National Innovation Visa (NIV): A permanent residence pathway for exceptional entrepreneurs, innovators, researchers, and high-impact business founders. No fixed investment amount is required.
Basic Process
Research the Australian market.
Choose a suitable state or territory.
Prepare a detailed business plan.
Register or purchase a business.
Apply for the appropriate visa.
Establish and operate the business successfully.
Become eligible for permanent residency through an approved migration pathway.
Investment Range
- Small businesses: AUD 100,000–500,000
- Medium businesses: AUD 500,000–1 million
- Large businesses: AUD 1 million–5 million+
Important Points
Buying property does not provide permanent residency.
Purchasing a business does not automatically grant a visa or PR.
Permanent residency depends on meeting the requirements of the relevant visa pathway.
Existing BIIP visa holders may still transition to permanent residence under the Subclass 888 visa, but the program is closed to new applicants.
Best Options
The most practical pathways are:
Starting or buying a business in Australia, or
Applying for the National Innovation Visa if you have an exceptional entrepreneurial or innovation profile.
Key takeaway: In 2026, Australia no longer grants PR simply in exchange for investment. Successful business ownership, innovation, and economic contribution are now the primary routes toward permanent residency.
